Requirements

  • Landscaping knowledge
  • Basic understanding of landscaping power tools
  • Ability to be on their feet working and walking around for the majority of the day
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs continuously throughout the day
  • Ability to climb ladders as needed, sometimes to the top of a building

Responsibilities

  • General Grounds/Landscaping knowledge
  • Training new employees and training current employees during seasonal changes on how to properly and safely use various landscape power tools in an urban environment
  • Establish an understanding of the “Cornerstone standard” throughout the different seasons
  • Establish an understanding of the protocols in place for completing various grounds tasks
  • Ensure all teams have all the tools they need on a daily basis
  • Purchasing/Ordering of tools and materials
  • Scheduling the repairs/maintenance of landscape power tools
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Schedule repair/maintenance appointments for grounds vehicles as necessary, ensure techs are washing their vehicles periodically, enforce a cleanliness standard for the interiors of the work vehicles
  • Managerial Tasks: Routes for teams and rotation of schedule through portfolios/buildings, structure weekly Grounds meeting discussing questions, concerns, and situations to promote learning and growth, timesheet auditing, changes, approvals, interviewing for open positions
  • Maintain Communication with Property Managers: Relay concerns or things found from techs in the field to the managers, address, delegate, or schedule requests from the managers, establish an understanding of realistic grounds expectations
  • Work Orders: Complete work orders that may be of a high priority or are out of the realm of a typical grounds visit, assign work orders to grounds teams that will be at the specified building that day
  • Fair bidding and distribution of side jobs: Estimation of material needed, ensure building and tech are getting a good deal on the labor price, distribute fairly between techs
  • Quality Control: Follow up behind the various teams to ensure they are keeping to standards, additional training, education, or reprimand as needed, cleanliness of tool sheds
