About The Position

Connexus is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker (Level 1) to maintain Connexus land and the external areas used by customers in Shropshire. The role covers open spaces, communal areas, grassed areas, shrub beds, hedges, car parks, garage sites and other associated grounds maintenance work. It is a practical, hands-on position within the Grounds Maintenance team. The postholder will carry out routine maintenance safely and to the required standard, use company vehicles, plant and equipment, complete daily checks and records, and provide courteous service to customers and residents.

The role has annualised hours. From March to October, the working pattern is 42.5 hours per week over five days, 7:30am–4:30pm. From November to February, it is 26 hours per week over four days, 7:30am–2:30pm. A consistent monthly salary is paid throughout the year based on 37 hours per week. The appointment is subject to a basic DBS check.

Requirements

• Experience of general grounds maintenance, including grass cutting, strimming, hedge and shrub maintenance, pruning, planting, litter picking and weed control.
• Knowledge and experience of safely using and looking after portable tools, small plant and grounds maintenance equipment.
• A reliable, self-motivated and flexible approach to work.
• Ability to work as part of a team, follow guidance and work independently on routine tasks where required.
• Good customer service and communication skills when working around customers' homes and communal areas.
• Ability to complete accurate job, vehicle and equipment records and use mobile or handheld technology.
• A current driving licence.
• Ability to carry out physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

• Trailer towing entitlement or competence, where required for the role.

• Work as part of the Grounds Maintenance team, follow guidance from Level 2 colleagues and the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, and complete routine tasks independently where required.
