About The Position

Prairie Crossing Charter School (PCCS) is currently accepting applications for a Grounds Steward for the school. PCCS's team culture is one that CARES. Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous landscaping or groundskeeping experience.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy manual labor, lifting, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Tool Proficiency: Experience using landscaping hand tools and power equipment.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of gardening techniques, plant material, and safe handling of fertilizers/pesticides.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains green spaces by weeding, trimming, and pruning.
  • Removes unwanted or unhealthy plants, shrubs, and trees, as well as downed limbs.
  • Operates hand tools and power equipment, including mowers, leaf-blowers, snowblowers, tillers, backhoes, and tractors.
  • Waters lawns and gardens.
  • Rakes leaves and other vegetation from lawns and flower beds.
  • Removes trash and other debris from outdoor areas.
  • Operates snow removal equipment and shovels walkways.
  • Works with other maintenance crew and construction specialists as needed.
  • May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
