About The Position

Responsible for grounds maintenance and internal general maintenance assistance. This is a casual position, meaning employees work on an ‘as needed’ basis to meet business needs, with workdays/hours often varying from week to week. The role involves operating and maintaining power and manual equipment, coordinating with vendors for repairs and services like concrete repair, lawn care, and snow removal, and maintaining the appearance and safety of Health System facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, General Educational Development (GED) or equivalent required.
  • 1 – 2 years previous experience operating and maintaining large power equipment required, including Bobcat front-end loaders, 4x4 trucks, power sweepers, snow blowers, large tractors, chainsaws, and weed trimmers.
  • 1 year previous experience in lawn care/horticulture required.
  • 1 year previous maintenance experience in sprinkler systems, automotive, and/or small engine systems required.
  • 1 year previous experience in snow removal required.
  • 1 year knowledge of at least one of the following: electrical, mechanical and plumbing required.
  • Valid and current driver's license required.
  • Knowledge of general grounds maintenance required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with staff and customers required.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend various written reports and documents required.
  • Able to travel to various locations required.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year previous welding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains power equipment and manual equipment according to manufacturer's specifications, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Coordinates and communicates with vendors and contractors for concrete repairs, lawn care, and snow removal.
  • Maintains lawns, trees, shrubs, and landscaping at all Health System facilities through services such as cutting, edging, aerating, trimming, planting, and mulching, ensuring a professional appearance.
  • Removes snow and treats icy conditions on parking lots, sidewalks, and steps using various equipment and tools to ensure a safe external environment.
  • Picks up trash and yard waste at Health System facilities following departmental procedures.
  • Maintains parking lots, driveways, and sidewalks by power washing and sweeping.
  • Records daily work activity in the Advanced Integrated Maintenance System (AIMS).
  • Performs preventative maintenance on assigned equipment according to policies and procedures.
  • Assists maintenance and engineering staff as needed with tasks such as painting, furniture moves, filter changes, preventative maintenance, and plumbing and electrical repairs.
