About The Position

This is a Full-Time position with the Bureau of Human Resources and Administration - Building and Grounds. The Bureau of Human Resources and Administration is seeking to fill a grounds keeper vacancy. Primary duties include maintaining lawns, trees, flowers, shrubs, parking lots, and sidewalks using hand and power tools, landscaping machinery, and related equipment to ensure the Capitol Complex is properly cared for and maintained. Successful incumbents must have the ability to work as part of a team or individually with general instructions. Additional duties include lifting furniture and completing office moves when required. Must have a valid driver's license. Work hours are generally 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; however, incumbents must be able to work outside the normal schedule as needed. Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting (50+ lbs.) and physical labor.
  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles, hand and power tools, and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of gardening and grounds maintenance practices.
  • Skill to provide good customer service and tact when interacting with other state agencies, co-workers, and public.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior medium and large equipment operation would be beneficial.
  • Possession of a National Career Readiness Certificate.
