About The Position

The Grounds Crew position is responsible for performing gardening, landscaping, snow removal and grounds maintenance helping to provide a safe, clean and aesthetically appealing environment. Provides maintenance of irrigation systems, pathways and paved surfaces.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and the ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains physical condition and appearance of all non-historic public areas
  • Prunes trees and hedges, mows lawn, removes weeds, edges walkways and maintains exterior areas
  • Mixes and applies fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals following manufacturer’s directions and departmental guidelines
  • Prepares soil for planting and maintains beds and grass around buildings
  • Maintains flowers and plants in public gardens and all grounds.
  • Helps perform routine road and parking lot maintenance and repair to include snow removal from parking and pedestrian areas
  • Identifies and assists with exterior repairs
  • Provides assistance as needed in other areas of Conner Prairie
