This role supports the health, appearance, and productivity of interior and exterior landscapes by caring for plants, flowers, and gardens across the campus. This role ensures seasonal plantings, propagation, and garden layouts align with organizational needs, including assisting with greenhouse operations and providing guidance to seasonal helpers. A successful Grounds and Garden Specialist will accomplish the following: By the end of the first 6 months: Oversee the care, maintenance, and aesthetic quality of interior and exterior plants, including watering, fertilizing, pruning, dusting, and pest management. Plan, plant, grow, and harvest flowers and vegetables according to seasonal needs, ensuring optimal health and timing for events, culinary use, and retail purposes. Support greenhouse operations as needed, including assisting with seed starting, soil preparation, and cultivation of flowers and vegetables for events, culinary use, and retail. Collaborate actively in a team-oriented environment to accomplish shared goals and support cross-functional initiatives. Communicate proactively and professionally with team members and managers to ensure alignment, share updates, and resolve issues. Build relationships between the indoor and outdoor design teams By the end of the first year: Track and report on plant health concerns, including identification of plant failures, diagnoses, and recommendations for replacements. Respond to plant-related inquiries and requests, including installations, removals, and special accommodations for hangar and indoor plant displays. Collaborate with stakeholders to design garden layouts and develop planting schedules aligned with organizational needs and seasonal themes. Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance personal growth, improve job-related skills, and contribute to team success. Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities, including as listed in GlassFrog, and support other teams as assigned, which may fall outside the essential duties and responsibilities. Assist in coordinating seasonal helpers and volunteers, including task delegation, training, and performance monitoring.
