About The Position

The Groundman is an entry point to a career in construction and maintenance of the nation's power grid. The role assists a team in building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems and reports to the Foreman.

The position involves performing rigorous physical labor and working outdoors at construction sites in varied and sometimes extreme weather conditions. Employees may need to travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments. Work may occur outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
• Ability to perform rigorous physical labor.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance, and repairs on underground distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
• Assist with installing and repairing underground facilities, conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain excavation equipment, including backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
• Follow safety protocols, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and understand insulated protective cover used to isolate differences of potential.
• Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment.
• Understand when to wear personal protective equipment.
