About The Position

As a Retail Yard Trimmer at Moon Valley Nurseries, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the aesthetic appeal and health of our nursery inventory. Your primary responsibility will involve trimming and shaping trees, shrubs, and plants to ensure they meet quality standards and customer expectations. This position requires attention to detail, knowledge of horticulture, and a passion for plants. Key Duties and Responsibilities include performing regular trimming and shaping of trees, shrubs, and plants to maintain their health, appearance, and desired form. Utilizing hand tools such as pruning shears, loppers, and hedge trimmers to remove dead or overgrown branches, shape foliage, and promote healthy growth. Inspecting trees and plants for signs of damage, disease, or pests during trimming activities. Identifying and removing any diseased or infested branches to prevent the spread of pathogens and ensure the overall health of the plant material. Collaborating with other nursery staff members to coordinate trimming schedules, prioritize tasks, and ensure efficient workflow in the retail yard. Communicating any issues or concerns related to tree and plant health to the appropriate personnel for further action. Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing trimming activities. Using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices to prevent injuries and accidents. Demonstrated availability to work any day of the week. Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to perform manual labor.
Knowledge of pruning techniques and plant anatomy.
Ability to follow specific instructions and safety protocols.
HS Diploma or equivalent
Subject to MVR and criminal background check in accordance with applicable fair chance laws, rules, and regulations.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with operating power tools, hand tools, and other equipment preferred.
