About The Position

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a SYSTEMS FIELD ENGINEERING professional for the Skunk Works (Lockheed Martin Advanced Development Program) to join a team focused on advanced aircraft development. The role involves providing technical services and guidance for the installation, upgrades, maintenance, configuration management, and mission operations of Unmanned Air System (UAS) Ground Control Stations (GCS). Responsibilities include resolving technical problems, troubleshooting products, modifying them to customer requirements, and providing customer training. The engineer will be an integral part of a technical team overseeing complex mission systems during operations, conferring with a broader engineering team on system anomalies. The selected candidate will contribute to the design, development, integration, and testing of mission system equipment onto airborne platforms, performing hands-on activities such as building and installing electrical and mechanical components, cable assemblies, computer systems, and voice/data communication devices. The role also involves organizing and managing multiple prototype development areas, using special test equipment for system functionality verification, and contributing to the development of System Integration Labs, Deployable Shelters, and Fixed Facilities. Collaboration with Hardware Engineering, Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, and Integration/Test teams is expected to develop a flexible test facility. The candidate will lead maintenance, upgrade, and build-up efforts on legacy and new systems, ensuring they are completed on or ahead of schedule and within budget. Support will be provided to the Hardware Engineering Lead during travel to ensure local efforts remain coordinated and problems are resolved promptly. The candidate will actively contribute as part of the Hardware Engineering team in developing systems including System Integration Labs (SILs), Deployable Systems, and Fixed Facility systems across several projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in STEM or related field (preferably Electrical Engineering) OR appropriate, equivalent and applicable Ground System Engineer/ Admin/IT experience from desired skills below in lieu of degree.
  • Security+ Certification
  • DOD Top Secret Clearance
  • Must be willing to work any shift to support customer and test needs
  • Extended travels is highly preferred

Nice To Haves

  • UAV Technology Experience
  • Admin experience with Cisco, Juniper, Linux or RHEL, Windows, Windows Server, ESXi, networking.
  • Network Administration computer system administration with experience in troubleshooting networks and computers
  • Aircraft modification experience and avionic integration
  • Technical report writing
  • Experience operating/maintaining support equipment
  • Knowledge/experience with integrated logistics support

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical services and guidance on installation, upgrades, maintenance, configuration management and mission operations of Unmanned Air System (UAS) Ground Control Stations (GCS).
  • Provide expertise for resolving technical problems, troubleshoots products and modifies them to customer requirements.
  • Provides training to customers.
  • Oversee a complex mission system during operations and confer with a broader engineering team regarding anomalies in system operation.
  • Help design, develop, integrate and test a variety of mission system equipment onto airborne platforms.
  • Perform hands-on activities by building and installing electrical and mechanical components including cable assemblies, computer systems and voice/data communication devices.
  • Organize and manage multiple prototype development areas.
  • Use special test equipment for verification of system functionality.
  • Actively contribute in the team developing several systems including System Integration Labs, Deployable Shelters, and Fixed Facilities in support of various projects.
  • Work effectively with members for the Hardware Engineering, Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, and Integration/Test teams to develop a flexible test facility capable of supporting both development and test efforts.
  • Lead maintenance, upgrade, and build-up efforts on legacy and new systems, on or ahead of schedule, within proposed budgets.
  • Support the Hardware Engineering Lead when on travel, ensuring local efforts stay coordinated and problems get resolved as they arise.
  • Actively contribute as part the Hardware Engineering team, developing systems including System Integration Labs (SILs), Deployable Systems, and Fixed Facility systems across several projects.
