About The Position

The GSE Mechanic with HVAC and T7 skills is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling a wide range of ground support equipment used in aviation and heavy industry. This role requires proficiency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and HVAC systems, as well as thermodynamic systems, to ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) to six (6) years of experience in wheeled and Ground support equipment maintenance or an equivalent.
  • Applicant must furnish their own serviceable tools that are Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliant, tools according to OSHA Reg 1910, SUB PAR P, that are appropriate for their required duties.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must have a valid REAL ID State Driver’s License with no restrictions.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust.
  • Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport.
  • Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Bragg Installation.
  • Must be proficient in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing military/civilian wheeled and ground support equipment.
  • Must be proficient in electrical troubleshooting and repair of ground support equipment such as mobile electric power plants and other self-propelled/non self-propelled equipment.
  • Must be familiar with the use of electronic technical manuals.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE, HVAC, A&P, FAA, EPA Universal, and T7 certification desirable

Responsibilities

  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wheeled vehicles and ground support equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
  • Inspects, tests, and operates wheeled and ground support equipment (commercial and Military) to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
  • Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning accessories and components.
  • Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls components and accessories.
  • Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
  • Operates, cleans, inspects, and services wheeled and ground support equipment for maintenance purposes.
  • Practices good housekeeping, property accountability control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times.
  • Works with a variety of repair and test equipment including welders, torches, pressure testers and electrical testers.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs thermodynamic systems, including compressors, heat exchangers, and related controls.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
