The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This role involves conducting diagnostics and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems, inspecting and approving completed maintenance actions, and solving repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications. The mechanic will use automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions. They will also analyze, diagnose, and repair GSE using various testing equipment and hand tools, maintain external fuel and grounding systems, and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Responsibilities include inspecting, testing, and operating GSE to determine serviceability, servicing equipment with fluids, diagnosing mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions, disassembling and assembling GSE components, and preparing GSE for storage and deployment. The role also involves operating, cleaning, inspecting, and servicing GSE towing vehicles, maintaining vehicle records, and providing dispatch service for GSE. Key areas of focus include good housekeeping, hazardous materials management, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety. The position may require travel to other CBP locations and performing other duties as needed to support the overall mission.
