About The Position
The USC Keck School of Medicine is seeking to hire a full-time Grossing Technician who will be responsible for performing technical procedures and tasks supporting the day-to-day operations of the Dermatopathology Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. In addition, he/she will provide technical expertise to ensure proper functioning of the division for optimal quality, efficiency, productivity, and turnaround times.
Requirements
- Education and/or training in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology.
- Experience with chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology.
- Specialized/technical training
- Associate's degree Medical Technology
- Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
- 1 year minimum experience
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree Biological Science
- 2 years preferred experience
Responsibilities
- Receive, accession, and triage patient specimens, blocks, and slides.
- Dissect and prepare non-complex dermatopathology surgical specimens and surgical biopsy specimens.
- Perform specialized procedures such as frozen sections and decalcification.
- Monitor incoming phone inquiries and requests.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols.
- Maintain and organize laboratory supplies. Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
