This opportunity is full-time (Third Shift) Monday through Friday; 9:00 PM - 5:30 AM. In this role, you will perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of surgical specimens for Histological processing, according to policies and procedures. You will assure appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling, perform gross description and dissection of specimens received, and recognize when troubleshooting is needed for processing, embedding, cutting, and staining. You will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards and champion safety, compliance, and quality control. This role will have routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees will be trained on reasonable safeguards and are expected to maintain strict confidentiality, as well as abide by all applicable privacy and security standards. Employees are expected only to access PHI when it is required to fulfill job duties.

Requirements

  • Must qualify as a High Complexity Testing personnel under CLIA regulations-- bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology obtained from an accredited institution.
  • 1 year experience in grossing preferred
  • Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms.
