Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in science or science related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform macroscopic examinations of higher complexity surgical tissue specimens under the guidance of the Pathologists and/or Pathologists Assistants.
• Verify patient information and appropriate accessioning part type.
• Review pertinent clinical history.
• Perform macroscopic examination of surgical tissue specimens with appropriate dictation and tissue sampling based on clinical history.
• Ensure additional studies/procedures are performed based on clinical history (i.e. decalcification, flow cytometry, crystal polarization).
• Keep a clean and orderly workstation.
• Assist with additional tasks as needed (specimen set up, accessioning, tumor banking, tissue disposal, etc.).
• May also perform additional duties as needed including courier count-in, accessioning, equipment maintenance or other duties as deemed necessary.
