About The Position

Doginhaus is seeking an experienced groomer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of prior experience fully grooming dogs, possess knowledge of and experience with a range of coat types and cuts, and have a passion for building relationships with grooming clients and their pets. The role involves providing a safe, fun, and rewarding work environment focused on pampering pets. Pay is 50% commission, plus tips.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of prior professional experience in a grooming role, fully grooming dogs (including haircuts).
  • Works well with others to ensure all duties are completed and guests are in unparalleled care.
  • A flexible schedule, with the ability to meet clients’ scheduling needs.
  • Able to properly, promptly, and effectively communicate with other team members, bathers, management, and pet parents.
  • Uses keen observation skills to assess pets’ needs and to report any issues as they arise.
  • Well-studied on various breed standards, styles, cuts and patterns.
  • Familiarity with safe handling and restraint techniques for animals.
  • Ability to stay on task and complete grooms in a timely manner.
  • An ability to stand/work upright for multiple hours at a time; able to lift and handle dogs of all sizes and perform all aspects of the grooming process.

Responsibilities

  • Performing consultations with pet parents regarding grooming services, advising them on the best services based on their dog’s condition and coat type, and meeting owners’ grooming expectations.
  • Communicating clearly with clients throughout the grooming process, including before and after, as well as during appointments as needed.
  • Bathing, brushing, combing, trimming, de-matting, de-shedding, drying, scissoring, clipping and filing nails, cleaning ears, and deodorizing services performed on dogs of all shapes and sizes.
  • Removing fleas and ticks as necessary.
  • Styling and haircuts according to industry standards and pet owner’s directions.
  • Paying special attention to the needs of individual dogs, including puppies, elderly, or disabled dogs.
  • Providing a calm and caring environment that eases pet anxieties.
  • Identifying possible health concerns regarding skin, ear, and oral hygiene and communicating those concerns to pet owners.
  • Keeping track of grooming supplies and informing the center’s General Manager of any needs.
  • Managing your own schedule and making and tracking appointments using kennel software.
  • Protecting pets, pet owners, and self by adhering to safety policies and procedures and using proper PPE.
  • Listening to and resolving client concerns, providing information and follow-ups or touch-ups as needed within reason.
  • Maintaining pet records by documenting services and updating information, including vaccine requirements.
