About The Position

The Grocery Night Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The role assists the department manager in reaching department sales and profit goals and monitors established quality assurance standards. The clerk embraces the Customer 1st strategy and encourages associates to provide excellent customer service, while demonstrating the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Requirements

Ability to handle stressful situations.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Any retail experience.
A second language, including speaking, reading, and/or writing.

Responsibilities

Promote trust and respect among associates.
Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
Maintain knowledge of department products, respond to customer questions, and make product suggestions.
Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them about grocery specials.
Check product freshness and sell-by dates, taking appropriate action as needed.
Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise, and provide customers with fresh products they have ordered.
Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Maintain a positive attitude.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
