About The Position

This role involves stocking, rotating, and facing grocery products. The Grocery Lead assists in coordinating and executing department operations, including ordering and inventory control. They are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and fostering a positive, collaborative team environment.   • Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous ordering/inventory management experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel or ordering software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Orders product according to business needs and maintains appropriate inventory levels.
  • Guides the work of department clerks, including prioritizing and assigning work, training staff, and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Partners with the department management team to maintain excellent department conditions (appearance, cleanliness, signage, service levels).
  • Assists customers with product selection, shares product knowledge, and makes recommendations.
  • Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays, and events, and implements plans accordingly.
  • Builds displays and arranges products for attractive presentations according to merchandising standards.
  • Maintains professional vendor relationships.
  • Participates in inventories, holiday, and sales event planning.
  • Completes customer special orders and provides follow-through.
  • Stocks, rotates, and faces products, paying attention to quality and expiration dates.
  • Receives and unloads merchandise, checking quality, count, and condition.
  • Maintains accurate pricing and signage.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of products, culinary terminology, product labeling, and dietary restrictions.
  • Coordinates with the Operations department for in-store tastings.
  • Follows company procedures for processing invoices, transfers, and credits.
  • Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
  • Maintains organization, rotation, and cleanliness of back stock areas.
  • Responds to emails and other communications in a timely manner.
  • Notifies department manager or Manager On Duty of any situations affecting customer service, safety, productivity, security, or the store.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
