About The Position

The Grocery Lead assists in managing Grocery Department operations, including scheduling, ordering, productivity, budgeting, inventory, gross profit and reporting. They supervise and coach Grocery Department staff, and model and provide excellent, professional customer service.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service
  • Must have a flexible schedule with availability to work evenings and weekends
  • Ordering and inventory management skills
  • Strong merchandising skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent leadership, teambuilding, problem solving and communication skills
  • Computer knowledge and skills including Microsoft Office products and file management
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of position including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion, and lifting between 10-40lbs regularly
  • A current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health is required
  • If hired into this role, a Certified Food Protection Manager certification (for example ServSafe) is required (paid for by PCC)
  • If hired into this role, a CPR/First Aid Certification is required (paid for by PCC)

Responsibilities

  • Models and provides excellent, professional customer service
  • Assists the Grocery Coordinator in overseeing Grocery Department operations, including merchandising, scheduling, ordering, productivity, budgeting, inventory, gross profit, and reporting
  • Helps train, supervise and evaluate all grocery department staff
  • Stocks grocery displays with attention to quantity, quality, timeliness, appearance of displays, and merchandising plan
  • Handles price changes and signage
  • Acts as back-up to Grocery Coordinator and oversees department in the Coordinator's absence
  • Participates in long and short-term department planning
  • Ensures that the department sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards are met
  • Helps maintain integrity of organic standards for the bulk department
  • Ensures department sanitation, cleanliness and safety standards are met
