About The Position

We are a highly automated Tier 1 supplier of wheel-bearing hubs for the automotive industry located in Elgin, IL. We are part of NTN, the world's third largest bearing manufacturer, we have over 75 plants worldwide and over 100 years of premium quality to our name. This role assists in the safe production of quality products by ensuring steel ball grinding machines are properly running. This includes loading materials, performing quality checks, and troubleshooting machines.

Requirements

  • This job requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of computerized machines, gauges, and hand tools
  • General knowledge of material handling, manufacturing processes, quality control systems
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, and decimals.
  • Communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Respond promptly to a sound or light signal when it occurs.
  • Concentrate on a task over several minutes without being distracted.
  • Arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern.
  • Physically move objects safely by using proper lifting techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • On average, this job requires 8 to 12 weeks of on-the-job training with an experienced trainer to acquire specific job skills. Exact training time depends upon a person’s experience, abilities, and role to be learned (assembler, grinder, turning operator).

Responsibilities

  • Operate stand up forklift
  • Supply pallets to machines
  • Transfer product throughout the warehouse and production areas
  • Conduct cycle counts of finished goods
  • Prepare shipments
  • Follow all company rules and regulations related to environmental, health, and safety.
  • Read and follow work instructions and inspection standards to correctly perform operational processes and meet customer product specifications.
  • Start-up and shut-down machines according to procedures.
  • Load, unload and operate tumbler machines.
  • Move materials to next process.
  • Using hand tools, change worn machine accessories (plate, wheel, comb, in chute, out chute). Check hydraulic system, lube oil, dresser unit.
  • Operate crane, hand jack and forklift.
  • Operate machine coolant system.
  • Operate and maintain brush washer machine.
  • Adjust wheel/plate depth check, change diamond.
  • Perform quality checks using dial gauge.
  • Run three lines plus washer during shift.
  • Perform cleaning and 5S tasks.
