Principle Duties and Responsabilities ♦ Safely handle, position and process metal parts performs various grinding & finishing functions, including removal of sharp edges, clean-up of weld burns, re-graining of material, and adding high polish/mirror finish as required, by use of hand, power, and pneumatic tools, to complete the work orders assigned to them ♦ Review technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders with the lead and understand material requirements, delivery sequences, assigned location, and any required protection of critical parts ♦ Protect finish of parts, sub-assemblies or units after grinding and polishing by using film, foam, corrugate or other materials in addition to exercising general caution or care. ♦ Work with Sr. Grinding & Polishing Technicians, Leads, or Supervisors to make sure equipment and orders are completed in a timely manner, and Take lead on tasks when working with Assistant Grinding & Polishing Technicians and help mentor or train. ♦ Keep Grinding & Polishing areas clean, tidy and organized. ♦ Continuously informs his Lead of completed activities, and any problems encountered ♦ Adheres strictly to all company safety protocols and health regulations, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and follow the 5S program to maintain a safe and organized work environment. ♦ Maintain accurate production records, including part counts, scrap rates, and completed job forms. ♦ Support operations and other departments, as required, to meet company’s overall objectives Experience, Education & Skills ♦ Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent or work experience in a manufacturing environment. ♦ Requires 3-5 years of experience with use of hand, power & pneumatic tools in a manufacturing facility. ♦ Forklift operation certificate desirable ♦ Basic to Intermediate Computer and math skills, with Basic proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings and Basic knowledge of different metal types and their properties. ♦ Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively. ♦ Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time, perform repetitive movements ♦ A highly self-motivated, dependable, and flexible team player with good communication skills and strong work ethic, positive attitude, that can work effectively as a team member with close attention to detail. Decision Authority Job is fairly routine. Duties are performed with specific directions given and work is checked or verified visually on a frequent basis. Decisions are made with specific operational instructions and departmental guidelines. Measured by: (key performance Indicators) Safety and 5S: No Accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions in his workstation or immediate area; 5S activities up to date and all tools accounted for and in good working conditions; Quality: Completes orders with 100% First Pass Yield; Delivery: Completes 100% of orders according to schedule; Inventory: Monitors and reports on his consumable items such as PPE, masking tape, grinding materials and equipment, cleaning kits and all other supplies required to ensure no stockouts; Productivity: Completes work and promptly resolves issues found from upstream processes Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in the manufacturing facility, although outdoor tasks are sometimes required. Lighting is artificial and adequate. Equipment used may include the use of telephones, power tools, hand tools, plumbing tools, and power-driven lift trucks. Individuals will have constant exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold, fumes and chemicals. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending over, crawling, climbing, reaching overhead, kneeling, crouching, balancing, pushing and pulling, repetitive use of both hands, grasping, fine dexterity, being around other work equipment and machinery, driving cars, trucks, forklifts, walking on uneven ground, as well as lifting up to 50 lbs. Both workdays, as well as hours of work, may vary, according to the requirements of the operation. Hourly Pay Rate $21.00-24.86 DOE
