About The Position

The grinder is responsible for the safe and proficient operation of the granulator machine. This role involves grinding scrap, maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the grinding room, preparing, weighing, and moving gaylords, and reporting scrap regrind quantities to the Production Manager. The position requires ensuring a quality regrind product by separating different polymers, correctly labeling gaylords, removing handles and gaskets, and accurately recording regrind totals for each shift. The grinder must monitor the granulator for proper operation and report any issues to Maintenance, the Shift Supervisor, and the QA Manager. Additionally, the role includes maintaining good housekeeping in the Grinder Room and Scrap Area of the Warehouse, operating a manual pallet jack, sit-down forklift, and becoming certified on the motorized pallet jack and forklift. Accurate and legible paperwork is essential, as is effective communication with team members and management. Staff are expected to be informed and accountable for food safety and regulatory responsibilities, encouraged to report potential issues, and empowered to resolve them within their scope of work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, or at least 1 year of work experience in a relevant role preferred.
  • Understanding of the Quality Assurance role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must be safety minded and dependable.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, bend, and reach during a 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack safely.
  • Basic writing, reading, and math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the granulator machine safely and proficiently.
