About The Position

The Plastic Grinder is responsible for counting, coding, recording, and grinding scrap. This role involves ensuring proper separation of different resin types and identifying scrap with labels. The position requires entering scrap data into SAP and Shoplogix, and submitting daily reports on pounds ground. The Grinder will also remove gaskets and handles from pails as required and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. A key aspect of the role is maintaining a clean grinding area and accurate scrap counts.

Responsibilities

  • Count scrap, code, record, and grind.
  • Collect scrap from each injection molding machine twice a day, ensuring proper separation of different resin types and white regrind vs color, and identify with labels.
  • Determine and code each piece of scrap and record on the daily scrap report.
  • Review the report with Supervisors and sign.
  • Enter scrap in SAP and Shoplogix.
  • Record pounds grinded by the different resin types and submit at the end of the shift, ensuring all pounds grinded from blue skid are recorded on the back of the sheet.
  • Remove gaskets from lid and handles from pails if required.
  • Bring forward any continuous improvement opportunities to the QPT, Quality Manager and/or Plant Manager.
  • Provide a shift pass down report detailing any issues, things to look for and recap of the three highest collected scrap.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the QPT and assist QCI if needed.
  • Report any unsafe conditions/situations immediately to the QPT.
  • Report any health and safety issues or opportunities for improvement in the plant.
  • Build a safety culture within the department, encouraging safety issues and/or enhancements to be brought forward.
  • Ensure assigned safety tasks are completed by target date.
  • Address asset safety concerns in sustained countermeasures in a timely manner.
  • Bring forward initiatives to improve/enhance asset safety.
  • Reduce the discrepancy in scrap count.
  • Bring forward continuous improvement initiatives.
