About The Position

This position involves learning and operating a grinding machine (ID, Jig, and OD). The employee will be responsible for their assigned machine, reporting any issues to management. Key tasks include using precision measuring tools, indicating/zeroing parts, grinding parts to specifications, and documenting work using the company computer system. The role also requires familiarity with safety procedures related to grinding dust and proper use of equipment like hand tools and welding machines.

Requirements

Must speak, read and write the English language.
Should have basic computer software skills.
Should be able to read blueprints.
Must have H.S. Diploma or GED.
Must have 4-7 years related experience.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Nice To Haves

Prior work experience in machine grinding helpful but not require.
Have knowledge and understanding of Appendix A. Safety Procedures.

Responsibilities

Learn and understand the proper operation of your machine, reporting any problems to Management.
Use and be able to read micrometers, c-micrometers, and bore gauges.
Learn to indicate or "zero" parts on machines.
Grind parts to the specifications called for on "Travelers".
Properly lubricate grinding equipment.
Use a power hand tool to grind or buff parts.
Use proper hearing, eye, and foot protection as required.
Know and understand the dust recovery system and associated safety rules, and the potential exposures to grinding dust and dressing rock dust.
Learn the proper use of the dot welding machine.
Be familiar with the company computer system, knowing how to "clock" parts to locations and document the required paperwork.
