About The Position

Founded as Boulder Hospice in 1976, TRU Community Care is a nonprofit healthcare organization serving Boulder, Denver, and surrounding counties. With a mission to affirm life at every step of the journey with illness and loss, TRU provides a continuum of care through TRU Hospice, TRU PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), TRU Palliative Care, TRU Grief Services, and Landmark Memory Care. The Grief & Volunteer Services Manager provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the organization’s grief and volunteer services. This role is responsible for the management, coordination, development, and daily operations of these programs to ensure high-quality, compliant, and patient- and family-centered care. The Manager oversees clinical and non-clinical staff, interns, and volunteers, including providing clinical supervision and supporting professional development. This role is responsible for program evaluation, quality improvement, supporting community education, and cross-department collaboration, ensuring services are effective, sustainable, and aligned with regulatory requirements and organizational priorities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program; current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals and families facing serious illness, grief, and loss.
  • Experience in group facilitation and an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Must successfully pass required background checks and drug screening.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance meeting minimum state requirements; ability to travel to multiple locations as needed.
  • Compliance with organizational health screening and immunization requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer and technology systems relevant to role responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two (2) years of management or supervisory experience with staff and/or volunteers preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting, hospice or palliative care environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation, hospice accreditation standards, and best practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, supervision, and direction to grief and volunteer services staff, interns, and volunteers; fosters a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
  • Provides clinical supervision and supports professional development of non-licensed social work and counseling staff pursuing licensure; promotes ongoing professional growth and certification.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, retention, evaluation, and recognition of volunteers, interns, and support services staff.
  • Develops and leads training, continuing education, group supervision, and support programs to ensure effective service delivery and engagement.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness across grief and volunteer services; implements improvements to meet organizational, regulatory, and community needs.
  • Monitors and analyzes program data, including patient outcomes, satisfaction metrics, and quality indicators; utilizes findings to drive performance improvement.
  • Develops and maintains program infrastructure, including policies, procedures, educational materials, and data systems to support efficient operations and compliance.
  • Collaborates across departments to integrate grief and volunteer services and expand program reach; provides guidance on effective utilization of volunteers and support services.
  • Partners with leadership to establish departmental goals, objectives, and budget; manages resources in alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Represents the organization through participation in community education, outreach initiatives, and professional activities to promote awareness and best practices.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with staff, volunteers, and community partners through ongoing communication, support, and engagement.
  • Ensures continuity of services by providing operational support and assuming departmental responsibilities as needed; demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness to organizational needs
