About The Position

At Ventana Canyon, nestled in Tucson Santa Catalina foothills, the sun rises across our pristine 600-acre desert preserve with its flowering landscape, rolling hills, winding riverbeds, craggy canyons, and pine-topped peaks. The Ventana Canyon Golf & Racquet Club is a beautiful and secluded member-owned country club with 36 holes of championship golf and 50 guest suites, rated as one of America's top golf resorts. The Greenskeeper III performs a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and construction. This role involves semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work and related tasks as required. The position regularly works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and near moving mechanical parts, and frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally, the role involves working in high, precarious places, areas with fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat (non-weather), experiencing vibration. The noise level is loud.

Requirements

• Required to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to apply simple mathematical skills; to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
• Able to apply common sense understanding of carry out detailed but involved instructions furnished in written and oral, or diagram form.
• Must be able to pass background check.
• One-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must be fluent in English.
• Must possess good verbal, written and listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs general landscape maintenance using hand held equipment.
• Rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
• Operates small machinery to assist with edging, trimming and mowing.
• Involved with tasks related to course detail (weed and debris clean up).
• Operates walking equipment in mowing greens collars and tees.
• Assists with golf course set-up procedures.
• Assists with fertilizer applications on tees, fairways and rough areas.
• Operates utility vehicles for hauling material and removing debris.
• Operates riding equipment in mowing fairways, approaches and rough.
• Operates sod cutter, trencher and tamper for routine projects.
• Operates dump truck and tractors for hauling purposes.
• Operates equipment safely and is aware of associates and their prospective work areas.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Performs skilled duties related to experience (pruning, plugging, etc.).
• Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the department manager.
• Attend staff meetings.
