About The Position

PGA Golf Properties Inc., a subsidiary of the PGA of America, is hiring Greenskeeper IIs to maintain the grounds and turf of the golf course in playing condition. This role involves operating golf course maintenance equipment, assisting with project work, and ensuring the course is well-maintained for members and guests. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to communicate and understand directions and concerns either directly or through an interpreter.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Works harmoniously with others to get a job done, responds positively to instructions and procedures and is able to work well with staff while maintaining relationships, which breed productive disagreement and debate.
  • Valid Local Driver’s License.
  • Frequent standing, walking and lifting up to 50 pounds required on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the grounds and turf of the golf course in playing condition as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent.
  • Represent the PGA of America in the utmost professional manner.
  • Operate all golf course maintenance equipment, with emphasis on smaller walk mowers, triplex mowers, deck mowers, utility vehicles, and implements.
  • Assist in project work, including drainage, laying sod, irrigation, seeding of greens, tees, fairways, approaches, and trim work.
  • Wear all necessary and supplied safety equipment such as safety glasses and ear plugs while operating equipment and hand tools.
  • Properly clean, store, and maintain all tools and equipment as required.
  • Clean machines after use and make minor adjustments to equipment under the supervision of the mechanic.
  • Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis and before use.
  • Inspect equipment before use and report problems or failure to the supervisor immediately.
  • Perform job tasks with little or no disruption to the members and guests playing the golf course.
  • Return all equipment to the designated location and keep the maintenance areas clean and free of clutter.
  • Water and fertilize tees, greens, and fairways, under the direction of a certified applicator.
  • Pick up trash and debris while performing job duties.
