About The Position

The Greenskeeper I cultivates and cares for ornamental plants and floral designs, golf course areas, and surrounding grounds. As part of the Landscaping and Grounds team, this role helps create and maintain the resort’s and golf course’s landscaped environments, including flower gardens and turf. The position maintains plants, trees, shrubs, and landscape systems, and performs golf course grounds work while learning cultural practices to progress toward a Greenskeeper II position.

Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management.

Requirements

• California Driver's License in good standing.
• Ability to understand and follow written directions and verbal directives.
• Ability to interact effectively with team members and guests.
• Ability to use tools of the trade.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to eight hours at a time.
• Ability to crouch, bend, and stoop.
• Ability to grasp and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb a ladder.
• Ability to appear for work on time.
• Ability to accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure.

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Resort landscaping experience.
• Golf course turf and grounds experience.
• Multilingual ability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain flower gardens, trees, and ground cover by preparing soil, planting seeds, seedlings, or bulbs, caring for plants and flowers, watering and pruning plants and trees, removing dead or dying plants, and applying fertilizer as needed.
• Routinely inspect landscape sprinkler systems to ensure they are operational.
• Maintain a safe work area by following established safety standards while using tools, performing equipment repairs, and cleaning and organizing work areas.
• Maintain golf course turf and grounds by digging, mowing, raking, and weeding.
• Learn golf course cultural practices in preparation for moving into a Greenskeeper II position.
