As a Greens 1st Assistant, you'll join the Golf Course Maintenance team and work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to keep the course beautiful, healthy, and ready for play. The Greens 1st Assistant is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, teamwork, leadership, and seeing the results of a job well done. You'll also have opportunities to develop your skills while contributing to a course enjoyed by residents and visitors year-round.

Requirements

  • Understands turfgrass maintenance, irrigation, and the equipment used in golf course operations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain a pesticide applicator license.
  • Dependable and safety-minded.
  • Communicates well.
  • Can lead and train others.
  • Comfortable performing physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Turf degree is recommended but not required.
  • 1–2 years of golf course maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Experience operating and repairing irrigation systems is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the irrigation system.
  • Conduct morning assignments.
  • Supervise and mentor crew members.
  • Monitor course conditions.
  • Help plan daily and weekly maintenance.
  • Apply fertilizers and pesticides.
  • Maintain compliance records.
  • Calibrate sprayers.
  • Operate mowers, tractors, utility carts, spreaders, and other equipment.
  • Support agronomic planning.
  • Work with the Superintendent to ensure greens, tees, fairways, and other playing areas meet the standards expected of a premier golf facility.
