About The Position

Stefanini Group is hiring a Greenhouse Maintenance Technician in Acampo, CA. This role is responsible for maintaining and performing preventative maintenance on climate control systems, greenhouse structures, and other greenhouse equipment. The technician will find technical solutions and improvements in daily work, execute greenhouse tasks to support the creation of new varieties, and use power tools and field equipment safely for maintenance and repairs. The position also involves assisting with monitoring growing conditions, operational work in greenhouses, and using modern computer systems for irrigation and climate control. Basic steps of standard operating procedures will be carried out independently, along with troubleshooting, repairs, and installation of basic irrigation systems. Farm Technicians may also be required to work outside normal hours for tasks like irrigating crops, pest control, and checking premises, which will be compensated specifically.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year maintaining a greenhouse preferred or at least 2 years working in agriculture maintenance/construction/troubleshooting equipment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new greenhouse management systems.
  • Ability to come in on weekends and work after hours.
  • Driver's license.
  • Work according to QHSE standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Greenhouse experience preferred.
  • Pesticide application experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a pesticide private applicator license and spray pesticide with a respirator.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and performing preventative maintenance on climate control systems, greenhouse structures, and other greenhouse equipment.
  • Finding technical solutions and improvements in the daily work throughout greenhouses and the facility.
  • Executing greenhouse tasks in cooperation with internal customers to provide support in the creation of new varieties.
  • Using power tools and field equipment in a safe and proper way to take care of maintenance and repairs in the greenhouse.
  • Assisting with monitoring growing conditions such as fertigation, lighting, pests, and other environmental factors for growing vegetable crops.
  • Responsible for the operational work in the greenhouses and hardening houses to grow successful and healthy plants.
  • Using modern computer systems for irrigation, climate control, and operational administration.
  • Carrying out basic steps of standard operating procedures independently.
  • Conducting troubleshooting, repairs, and installation of basic irrigation systems such as replacing PVC and metal pipes as well as fixing solenoids.
  • Taking care of certain tasks outside normal working hours, like irrigating crops, pest control, control of the growth of crops, or watching and checking premises and testing security systems when needed.
