About The Position

Morrison Center is seeking a Grounds Operation Manager to be based Onsite in Westbrook Maine. The Greenhouse & Grounds Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing greenhouse operations, horticultural production, campus landscaping, and grounds stewardship at Morrison Center's Scarborough campus. This position supports the organization's mission by maintaining attractive, safe, and productive outdoor and indoor environments while maximizing the educational, vocational, therapeutic, and commercial value of greenhouse operations. Morrison Center is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to provide comprehensive, individualized support services to children and adults with developmental disabilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Botany, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Facilities ideally.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Maine Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum three years of experience in greenhouse operations, horticulture, landscaping, agriculture, facilities maintenance
  • Knowledge of plant cultivation, soil management, irrigation systems, fertilization, composting, integrated pest management, and seasonal growing practices.
  • Experience operating landscaping, greenhouse, and grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Supervisory or project management experience.
  • State certifications related to pesticide application or greenhouse operations.
  • Experience with budget management, inventory control, and agricultural sales

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily greenhouse operations, including planting, cultivation, harvesting, and crop management
  • Develop and execute seasonal production plans aligned with organizational goals and community needs
  • Monitor crop quality, yields, and production schedules to ensure efficient and sustainable operations
  • Implement best practices in plant care, soil health, pest management, and environmental stewardship
  • Coordinate and maintain campus grounds to create a safe, attractive, and welcoming environment
  • Oversee seasonal landscaping, grounds maintenance, and improvement projects across campus
  • Conduct routine inspections and coordinate maintenance for greenhouse systems, equipment, and grounds
  • Manage inventory, supplies, and purchasing within approved budget guidelines
  • Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to support programs and engagement opportunities
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and safety oversight for staff, volunteers, and participants
  • Support managers in conducting performance evaluations and goal setting for employees.
  • Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
