About The Position

Performs tasks associated with that of a green chain, clear chain, or sort chain person. Complies with all company safety rules and regulations. Demonstrates the ability to be a part of the production team by communicating and working within the parameters of the production department under the direction of the department supervisor.

Requirements

Basic understanding of sawmill operations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills to coordinate with co-workers and supervisors.
Committed to promoting and supporting a safe work environment.
Willingness to work off-shifts or overtime when required.

Responsibilities

Pulling and sorting of all lumber production on Green Chain, Sort Chain or Clear Chain.
Making sure all lumber is pulled into its designated load according to size, length, and grade.
Ensuring all units are stacked to the correct height and width.
Making sure stickers are properly located.
Ensuring the resaw and trim are properly stacked into stable units.
Banding trim units.
Working with other pullers as a team to ensure a safe and efficient production flow.
Helping to ensure that all employees maintain a safe working environment and safe working habits.
Knowing and utilizing all lock-out/tag-out procedures associated with job duties.
Carrying stickers, straightening loads, banding units for forklift, and cleaning up when time allows.
Reporting any potential machinery defects immediately.
Reporting any potential safety risks immediately.
Keeping work area clean and orderly.
Utilizing downtime for clean-up and minor maintenance.
