The ideal candidates will reside in the Birmingham, AL area.

Requirements

  • Working on a BS or BA degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or related field
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs)
  • Working knowledge of security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners)
  • Basic understanding of Linux and Windows system security
  • Familiarity with common attack vectors and defensive security practices
  • High-level understanding of security lifecycle and incident response
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must be self-motivated and know when to seek guidance
  • Individual must be a self-starter and capable of working independently as well as part of a team
  • Capable of learning new security tools and technologies
  • Ability to provide strong problem-solving skills using a variety of analytical methods
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify anomalies

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, CIS Controls, OWASP) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Participate in security status meetings and provide reports to Security Managers
  • Work with Security Architects to develop and implement security solutions
  • Monitor security systems and analyze security events, logs, and alerts
  • Assist in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities
  • Document security incidents, findings, and remediation procedures
  • Work with IT teams to deploy security controls and monitor system configurations
  • Support security compliance initiatives and audit processes
  • Investigate potential security incidents and escalate threats appropriately
