About The Position

The Gravy Maker is responsible for accurately interpreting batching sheets, staging and weighing ingredients, and performing the batching process according to production schedules. This role also involves cleaning totes and the work area, inspecting ingredient bags, and maintaining a clean and orderly production environment. The Gravy Maker participates as a team member, adhering to Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives, and performs other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand on feet for entire shift.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to read, write and understand English.
Machine Operation preferred.
Manufacturing or warehouse industry experience.

Responsibilities

Read and accurately interpret batching sheets and other production documents to determine the order and quantity of ingredients.
Stage ingredients to be batched.
Clean totes to contain the batches.
Accurately record production-related data including lot numbers, supplier for each ingredient, batching date code, and plan number.
Inspect each ingredient bag for condition, foreign material, lumps, off-color, off-odor, infestation, or expired materials.
Perform batching, weighing each ingredient per gravy card into a tote, labeling tote, and staging tote.
Ensure gravies are batched 10-12 hours ahead according to the production schedule.
Physically move bags of ingredients and totes weighing up to 50 lbs.
Conduct general cleaning of the area including maintenance of the gravy room, filtration system, and dry ingredient area.
Cover unused ingredients to prevent contamination and tape opened bags shut, dating and initialing each one.
Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and resolving issues.
Maintain familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems and understand the responsibility to support these systems.
