This role involves the inspection, repair, installation, and servicing of Gravel Trains, as well as stationary and mobile equipment. Responsibilities include the repair and maintenance of mobile equipment such as diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems. The position also requires cutting, welding, and metal fabrication, along with troubleshooting, diagnosing, and correcting recurring problems. Basic schematic and parts diagram reading ability is necessary, as is the ability to operate heavy equipment to facilitate maintenance. The mechanic will adjust functional parts of mechanical devices, including cleaning and lubrication, order replacement parts, inspect completed repairs, and requisition new parts and equipment. Additionally, the role involves troubleshooting electrical and ABS systems on tractors and multi-trailer setups, handling major component replacements (engines, clutches, differentials), and leading difficult breakdown diagnostics to minimize downtime.
