The New York Times' Motion Graphics team focuses on elevating how animated graphics and motion design are used in our video journalism. Working in close collaboration with Video, Shows and Graphics, the team responds to the demands of stories and formats across the newsroom—from news explainers and visual investigations to enterprise series and shows. As a member of Digital News Design's Motion Graphics team, you will focus on work for Shows, a department created to expand the reach of The Times's audio and video shows. You will collaborate with reporters, editors, producers, art directors and show hosts to craft motion assets and visuals for our expanding roster of shows across a range of formats and platforms. You will be responsible for identifying creative needs and producing a range of design assets, including motion graphics, typography, animations, and mogert templates. In consultation with editors and other newsroom leaders, you'll exercise journalistic judgment and visual creativity to innovate and ensure accuracy, clarity, and validity of the content presented. Design team members are expected not only to make exceptional contributions to our journalism, but also to engage with others to foster an environment of learning and constructive dialogue about our work. This is an in-office position based in New York and includes regular attendance in the office four days each week. There may be some flexibility to work remotely per your departmental guidance.
