About The Position

At FASTSIGNS of Hilliard, great design is about more than making something look good. We're looking for a graphic designer who can translate project specifications into accurate, production-ready artwork with minimal rework. You'll need strong Adobe Illustrator skills, an eye for design, and the attention to detail to get the little things right—from spelling and alignment to dimensions and production requirements. We create custom signage and visual communications for businesses of all sizes, from simple decals and banners to complex environmental graphics and signage programs. This is a fast-paced, collaborative environment where you'll work on a wide variety of projects, often balancing multiple jobs and deadlines. Successful candidates will enjoy both the creative and technical sides of graphic design.

Requirements

Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, including Artboard and layer management, Pathfinder tools and complex shape manipulation, File optimization, organization, and conversion, Preparing SVG, PDF, and print-ready files
Solid understanding of graphic design principles, typography, layout, and color.
Ability to interpret specifications and produce accurately sized artwork.
Exceptional attention to detail: You take pride in producing accurate work and consistently check your own designs for errors and inconsistencies.
Strong organizational and time-management skills: You can prioritize and manage multiple projects without sacrificing quality.
Clear communication: You ask questions when specifications are unclear and communicate effectively with teammates.
Collaborative mindset: You work well with others and understand how your work affects the sales and production teams.
Reliability: You are dependable, punctual, and committed to supporting your team.
1–2+ years of professional graphic design experience preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
Portfolio or examples of relevant design work.

Nice To Haves

Experience preparing files for large-format printing, signage, or other physical production applications is a plus.
Experience in signage, large-format printing, or print production preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Create and modify artwork for a wide range of custom signage and visual communication projects.
Translate customer artwork, design requests, and work orders into accurate proofs and production-ready files.
Apply strong design fundamentals, including typography, color, composition, balance, and visual hierarchy.
Prepare, organize, and optimize Adobe Illustrator files for efficient production.
Review your own work for accuracy before submitting proofs or releasing files to production, checking spelling, alignment, fonts, dimensions, specifications, and project details.
Ensure artwork accurately reflects work orders, including materials, sizing, mounting requirements, and other production specifications.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
Collaborate with sales and production team members to clarify requirements, resolve questions, and keep projects moving.
