About The Position

The Richmond SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to animal welfare, with a mission to save, protect, and enrich animal lives and foster a no-kill community. They provide education and resources, rescue and rehabilitate approximately 4,000 animals annually, and offer safety net programs to keep pets in homes. The organization values collaboration, creativity, honesty, inclusion, and respect. This part-time Graphic Designer position is within the Advancement Department, which handles fundraising, communications, and marketing. The role involves creating visually engaging assets for promotional platforms and brand materials, requiring strong design skills and a deadline-driven approach while adhering to the established brand identity. The position offers schedule flexibility and potential for remote work.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, collaboratively, and with attention to detail.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver with strong visual skills.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in design principles, typography, and layout.
  • Expertise working within and maintaining identity and brand standards.
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Proficient with MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Commitment to the mission of the Richmond SPCA.
  • Ability to react to change productively.
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback on creative projects.
  • Ability to work in an environment that can be fast-paced and high-stress.
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, marketing, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in graphic design.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with web platforms and content management systems (Wordpress, Virtuous) preferred.
  • Photography skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a range of design projects, including event materials, print collateral, newsletters, presentations, and social media graphics, consistently meeting brand standards.
  • Design email marketing content within CRM platforms, utilizing existing templates and creating original designs.
  • Manage multiple design requests simultaneously, prioritizing workload to stay on schedule with a busy editorial and campaign calendar.
  • Revise designs based on feedback and prepare final files for printing or publication.
  • Assist with design-related updates to the Richmond SPCA website.
  • Gather and organize images to maintain the media library.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
