Graphic Designer (Licensed Consumer Products), Fixed Term

Moonbug Entertainment•Los Angeles, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Moonbug Entertainment is seeking a Graphic Designer to support the development of style guides and graphic design for licensed consumer products for preschool brands. The role works closely with the Consumer Products & Experiences Creative and Product Development teams to create brand-right, trend-relevant style guides, packaging, and graphic designs that translate across retail product categories. Approved character art is provided; this is a graphic design role, not a character design or illustration role. The designer will research trends, apply retail insights and brand strategy, and carry projects from brief through licensor approval to retail-ready execution. Designs span categories including apparel, accessories, home, toys, stationery, hardlines, and softlines. This is a six-month fixed-term role requiring five days on-site in Los Angeles.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of professional graphic design experience, ideally in licensed consumer products, packaging, entertainment, or retail.
  • Strong graphic design portfolio demonstrating layout, typography, pattern development, and packaging capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of designing within established brand guidelines while bringing fresh design thinking.
  • Ability to turn a design brief into a cohesive graphic system rather than simply executing individual graphics.
  • Strong understanding of color, typography, composition, hierarchy, and pattern.
  • Experience preparing professional production-ready files for licensees, manufacturers, and other external partners.
  • Experience designing collections of digital product mock-ups.
  • Comfort working in fast-moving environments with multiple rounds of feedback.
  • Knowledge of Mac OSX and Adobe Suite programs, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Ability to work across the needs of a global team.
  • Ability to work on-site in Los Angeles five days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing licensed consumer products style guides; style guide samples should be included in the portfolio.
  • Experience working with kids, preschool, entertainment, licensed character, or lifestyle brands.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build seasonal, core, retail, and thematic licensed consumer products style guides.
  • Create original graphics, patterns, icons, badges, typography treatments, borders, backgrounds, and supporting design elements.
  • Place approved characters into product-ready graphics, layouts, and placements that follow franchise brand standards.
  • Apply seasonal trends, retail insights, and brand strategy to build cohesive graphic collections.
  • Build color palettes, graphic systems, pattern families, editorial treatments, and product-ready graphics.
  • Develop designs that translate across apparel, accessories, home, toys, stationery, hardlines, and softlines.
  • Prepare organized, production-ready design files and style guide packages for licensee and partner use.
  • Explore design options through thumbnails, layout concepts, and digital mock-ups.
  • Incorporate feedback from Creative Product Development, Brand, Franchise, and Legal teams.
  • Support development and evolution of licensed packaging systems across product categories.
  • Work within existing brand standards while identifying opportunities to keep packaging fresh, relevant, and competitive at retail.
  • Collaborate with Creative Directors, Designers, Product Development, and Project Management to meet project timelines and deliverables.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Participate in creative reviews and respond efficiently to feedback and revisions.
  • Ensure designs meet brand, legal, technical, and production requirements.
  • Support special projects such as retail presentations, product concept mock-ups, trend boards, and partner-facing materials.
