About The Position

The Graphic Designer III provides technical leadership and strategic direction for various print, web development, digital, and multimedia projects for marketing and communications needs of the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences and Texas A&M University. This person performs expert-level graphics design and consultation work and oversees the VMBS’ Digital Signage System, producing and deploying public-facing graphic content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, Fine Arts, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four years of related experience in graphic design, web development, print and electronic media, marketing or related fields
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to meet deadlines and able to self-direct execution of assignments
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with REACH digital signage system.
  • Five years of experience working in the Adobe suite of design software, including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop, and After Effects

Responsibilities

  • Creates, Designs, and Edits Communications: Provides direction of the design and development process for complex, high-profile communications projects, such as magazines, white papers, annual reports, and handouts for the Office of the Dean, including all graphics and other visual element needs for the publication.
  • Supports additional design needs for projects including brochures, pamphlets, booklets, postcards, bookmarks, posters, banners, research posters, books, social media, web, and emails, etc., utilizing Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Develops conceptual design solutions and strategies.
  • Advises on editing needs for editorial, marketing, advertising, development, and general content such as stories, headlines, reports, advertisements, event pieces (invitations, program, signage, etc.) and reports, as needed.
  • Provides direction of the design and development process for communication projects, including pieces for print, web, social media, web, and email marketing.
  • Manages projects and coordinates production schedules.
  • Project Coordination: Works closely with vendors in support of the printing and purchasing of other collateral needs for the college to ensure timeliness, quantity, quality, and customer satisfaction with final product, including coordinating specs and pricing of projects, art proof checks, go to press checks, and any other function necessary to ensure all project criteria is met in a superior manner.
  • Manages documentation for each project, including approvals, comments, drafts, and artwork.
  • Customer Service: Presents branding and design concepts to clients and partners.
  • Advises and collaborates with clients and partners to ensure adherence to all Texas A&M Brand Guidelines.
  • Provides highest level of customer support in development of all college materials, from concept to creation.
  • Helps internal clients create graphics to illustrate concepts in their reports or publications.
  • Digital signage: Administers the VMBS’s digital signage, managing, building, editing, posting/scheduling, and developing templates for content in support of the college’s digital presence and/or working with other members of the VMBS Marketing & Communications team to achieve these goals.
  • Helps internal clients create digital signs use and deploy self-service/templated options.
