We encourage you to apply to become a part of our team. This position is responsible for designing and producing published materials for Tryon Palace. The responsibilities of the position are diverse, fast paced and collaborative. This position is expected to maintain Tryon Palace’s look, brand, and messaging across all published materials including marketing collateral, advertising, in-house publications, development/membership materials, invitations, signage, digital ads and communications, exhibit signage, brochure layout and design, calendars and others.

Requirements

Associate's degree in visual/graphic design, commercial art or related area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution: OR High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND two years of experience in visual/graphic design, commercial art, or related to the area of assignment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

Experience applying branding and image in the design of graphics, advertising, publications, signage, and promotional materials.
Experience with interactive media products and software (HTML, PHP, MySQL, Wordpress, JavaScript)
Experience in photography and video editing (Final Cut Pro), multimedia design, or motion graphics production.

Responsibilities

Design of all marketing, promotional and informational material for Tryon Palace and the North Carolina History Center, to include print and digital advertisements, brochures, posters, publications, signage, event maps, web page images, invitations, in-house exhibits, and other.
Work in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and with Microsoft Office skills to creatively collaborate on designs and produce print and digital collateral.
Provide electronic media support with photo editing for print and digital needs.
Use efficient time management skills for planning and making monthly advertising deadlines and other project deadlines, while working on multiple projects at a time.
Work collaboratively with the Public Affairs team on planning and executing special projects, fundraising events and other Tryon Palace events and programming.
