About The Position

This position involves working independently and exercising good judgment while assisting the Studio and Digital Arts department administrative assistant and the assistant curator of the Art Museum. The role requires providing exemplary customer service, professionally problem-solving, and handling a variety of requests and circumstances. Responsibilities include performing office tasks, completing creative projects, and monitoring labs during student open hours. Strong communication skills, flexibility in a swiftly changing environment, and a willingness to assist with any departmental need are essential.

Requirements

  • Work Study Eligible students.
  • Residential student declared a Graphic Design or Studio Art major and/or minor.
  • Good work ethic, positive attitude, ability to learn quickly.
  • Communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with a professional demeanor.
  • Commitment to assist with the needs of the department.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing assignments, projects, and roles.
  • Strong sense of maturity, dependability, trustworthiness, and responsibility.
  • Availability (with some flexibility) in the student’s academic schedule.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference is given to students with a Tue/Thu or Mon/Wed/Fri schedule.
  • Students may be asked to work some evening events throughout the semester (typically a Thursday evening) and/or a periodic Saturday afternoon assignment (for three to four hours).
  • Graphic design skills and experience for project-based assignments.
  • Familiarity with Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Professional photography skills.
