About The Position

The Graphic Design Teacher works under the supervision of the Academic Dean and is responsible for meeting all scheduled classes and instructing students in visual communication, digital art, typography, and industry-standard software. The role involves guiding students from initial concept to completed design, in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of CEC, the community college, and the approved course syllabus. The teacher will uphold CEC's beliefs, develop and administer Graphic Design education curriculum consistent with community college objectives, and create lesson plans and instructional materials to enhance learning. They will design learning activities to demonstrate the application of coursework to everyday life, conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modify instructional methods accordingly. A safe and conducive classroom environment for individualized and small group instruction and student learning is to be promoted. The teacher will organize and maintain Infinite Campus (IC) for accurate recordkeeping, grading, and reporting, and ensure student conduct conforms with CEC's Student and Family Handbook and policies. Collaboration with other CEC staff and participation in staff meetings and professional development are also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in art education or related field.
  • Experience with project-based learning.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with graphic design standards and software.
  • Must verify legal right to be employed in the United States within 72 hours of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that student conduct conforms with CECs Student and Family Handbook and CEC policies.
  • Collaborate with other CEC staff members and participate in staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Head of School.
  • Other duties as assigned.
