About The Position

The Reitz Union is seeking a Graphic Design Student Assistant to conceptualize and produce high-quality graphics for various platforms including events, social media, websites, digital displays, and print materials. This role also involves supporting social media content creation, ensuring brand consistency, preparing artwork for print production, managing design assets, and collaborating with the Marketing and Communications Specialist and internal clients. The assistant will manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Be a current UF degree seeking student registered at a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester.
  • Eligible to work on campus and employed through Other Personnel Services (OPS) or Federal Work-Study (FWS).
  • Maintain a 2.0 grade point average.
  • Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
  • Must be able to work at least 10–20 hours per week.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, as well as other industry-standard design tools.
  • Experience using Apple Mac computers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with photography, videography, or video editing.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook, and familiarity with current trends.
  • Background or coursework in marketing or copywriting.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and produce high-quality graphics for events, social media, websites, digital displays, print materials, and special projects such as promotional items, apparel, and other building needs.
  • Collaborate with and support full-time staff and part-time student social media content creators to develop visually engaging content aligned with current trends and UF brand standards.
  • Proof all designs for spelling, grammar, and visual consistency to uphold the UF brand standards.
  • Prepare and format artwork files for professional print production.
  • Organize and maintain the Reitz Union's library of design assets, working files, and media files.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Specialist and internal clients to plan, develop, and execute design projects from concept to completion.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver polished work on time with minimal supervision.
  • Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • Establish an exemplary work ethic by being proactive, self-motivated, and dependable.
  • Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations.
  • Act as an ambassador for all areas within the Reitz Union, as well as the University of Florida, providing accurate information and campus resources.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
