About The Position

TYLin is an industry-leading transportation planning, engineering, and environmental firm known nationally for our ability to solve complex transportation problems with creative, multi-modal solutions. Our work includes projects such as the World Trade Center, Second Avenue Subway, LaGuardia Airport/JFK Redevelopment, and strategic planning for cities across the country. We are looking for a graphic design intern to join our New York City office for the Summer of 2026. As a part of our Strategic Communications & Engagement (SC&E) team, you’ll gain hands-on experience working with an interdisciplinary team of consultants (designers, urban planners, data analysts, and transportation engineers) in preparing presentations and graphics to communicate transportation planning concepts. The success of our work is often dependent on our ability to visually communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences, including government decision makers; other practitioners; and community stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Interest in transportation and urban planning
  • Creative contribution to design and idea generation
  • Understanding of graphic design principles and ability to apply them
  • Ability to collaborate with a team and work autonomously
  • Strong judgment in identifying and proposing effective ways to communicate concepts
  • Initiative in learning new techniques, skills, and software
  • Current undergraduate (or higher) student in an accredited Graphic Design/Visual Communications program.
  • Strong graphic and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly, PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with web design (HTML, CSS, Java) is a plus
  • Familiarity with video editing platforms, including Premiere Pro and After Effects, is a plus
  • Exposure to large-scale printing and on-site installation coordination is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and manage the design and production of presentations and reports
  • Design and create thematic maps, charts, and diagrams
  • Produce public communication materials including brochures and newsletters
  • Develop infographics to communicate transportation and planning concepts
  • Contribute to growing multimedia work; experience and interest in web design, video editing, or motion graphics is a plus
