About The Position

The Hatcher Group is seeking an intern to join their Design team for the summer of 2026. This program is designed to offer college students and recent graduates hands-on experience in an agency setting. The intern will apply their creative and technical abilities to design various materials for firm initiatives, digital media, and branding projects. The Design team is looking for enthusiastic learners eager to refine their creative skills and produce high-quality work. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for design and a strong motivation to contribute to Hatcher's mission of supporting nonprofits, foundations, government agencies, and other mission-driven organizations through impactful marketing and communications. Interns should be organized, self-driven, capable of managing multiple tasks, and work well within a team. This opportunity is open to recent college graduates and students graduating in winter 2026. Hatcher promotes a "flexible first" work culture. While the preferred location is near the Bethesda headquarters for in-person collaboration, the program dates are June 16 – August 14, 2026.

Requirements

Compelling design portfolio (be sure to include with your application)
Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Cloud
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Canva
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to take direction, work efficiently as part of a team, and adhere to tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

Experience with WordPress or other web platforms and coding languages
Experience with After Effects, Premiere Pro, Procreate, Affinity, and other design programs

Responsibilities

Design brochures, flyers, logos, and branding assets, digital and print advertisements, infographics, presentations, business development proposal covers, illustrations, social media graphics, and more
Contribute to creative brainstorming sessions for new projects and campaigns
Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Create quality deliverables in collaboration with the design team and under the guidance of Hatcher’s art directors
Communicate and collaborate effectively with the team
