About The Position

Serves as a team member in designing, developing, implementing, and/or supporting moderately complex distributed or web-based information systems. Supports project tasks and codes and test programs and develops system documentation (e.g.; structure charts, screen designs, data flow diagrams, file layouts, report layouts, and job run descriptions) in accordance with IS standards. Supports the design, development, implementation, testing, and maintenance of moderately complex web-based and distributed applications, while contributing to project deliverables, coding, system testing, and technical documentation in accordance with established IT standards.

Requirements

  • College coursework in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • Distributed, and/or web-based system development
  • Programming languages (e.g., COBOL II, J2E)
  • Database management systems (e.g., IMS DB, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Access)
  • Web development (HTML)
  • PC fundamental tools (MS Office)
  • Structured systems analysis, design, programming and testing
  • Mainframe and/or distributed computing fundamentals and concepts
  • Systems operation practices
  • Analyze business problems
  • Demonstrating strong analytical and investigative ability
  • Communicate effectively in a business setting
  • Evaluate information systems and understand the inter-dependencies between components
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems in a test, development or production environment
  • Write procedures and technical materials
  • Perform a variety of concurrent activities effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in UI/UX Design, Human-Centered Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Coursework, internship, academic project, volunteer, or professional experience related to user interface design, user experience design, or digital product design.
  • Portfolio or work samples demonstrating skills such as wireframing, prototyping, visual design, user research, or designing web or mobile experiences.
  • Familiarity with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or similar tools.
  • Basic understanding of user-centered design, usability, responsive design, information architecture, accessibility, or design systems.
  • Ability to gather feedback and translate user or business needs into clear design concepts.
  • Ability to communicate design ideas and collaborate with business partners, developers, product teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Agile, iterative design, or software and product development methodologies.
