About The Position

Fletcher Technical Community College is seeking a Grants Specialist to join the Finance & Administration Department. This role is responsible for supporting the grant lifecycle, from identification and proposal preparation to award setup, financial management, and reporting. The Grants Specialist will play a key role in ensuring compliance with sponsor requirements and maintaining accurate financial records for grant-related activities. This position also involves administrative support for the Grants Manager and finance team, and participation in college-wide initiatives and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or related fields.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or GED, along with five (5) years of experience in grants administration, finance, accounting, or a closely related field, may be substituted for the required Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in grant writing or grant administration.
  • Experience with Banner 9 and QuickBooks.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles and bookkeeping systems.
  • Knowledge of higher education administration.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain performance standards and pursue goals, objectives, and activities that promote the mission, vision and value statement of the College.
  • Assist in identifying, researching, and tracking grant funding opportunities.
  • Coordinate the preparation, formatting, review, and submission of grant proposals and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain grant application, reporting, and renewal calendars to ensure timely submissions.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to obtain required programmatic, budgetary, and supporting documentation.
  • Review grant proposal packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with sponsor requirements.
  • Assist with grant award setup and maintain grant tracking systems.
  • Track expenditures and monitor grant compliance requirements, reporting deadlines, deliverables, and award conditions.
  • Prepare and compile programmatic and financial reports in coordination with the Grants Manager.
  • Maintain complete grant documentation for reporting, monitoring, and audit purposes.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and other accounting transactions for grant related activities.
  • Perform bookkeeping functions for the Foundation and Falcon Enterprise.
  • Record, reconcile, and maintain financial transactions in accordance with institutional policies and accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with finance leadership to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Assist with audit preparation by organizing and providing requested documentation.
  • Provide administrative support to the Grants Manager and finance team.
  • Foster, demonstrate, and actively participate in a culture of mutual respect for students, guests, and co-workers from all backgrounds, perspectives and abilities. Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and supervisors and utilize appropriate channels of communication within the college community concerning procedures and/or inquiries.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled activities, which include graduation, open house/recruiting events as assigned, convocation, and required meetings. Share ideas and information, and work toward common department and College goals.
  • Serve on college committees as a member or as chair. Serve on search committees.
  • Participate in professional development activities that enhance effectiveness (convocation, LCTC conference, etc.).
  • Represent the college in a manner that promotes a professional and positive image.
  • Adhere to College and LCTC policies.
  • Embrace college culture.
  • Complete all required assignments prior to deadlines (Fletcher/LCTC trainings, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
