About The Position

The Grants Manager is an important member of Open Hand’s Grants team, which is part of the Development team. This role executes key administrative aspects of the organization’s grant management strategies while consistently researching and writing grants to secure funding for Open Hand’s day-to-day operations.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Planner and SharePoint.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage work to meet required deadlines.
  • Grammatical knowledge and attention to detail/accuracy in reviewing proposals and applications.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software for tracking and managing grant-related activities.
  • Strong research skills, with an eye for identifying new mission aligned funding opportunities through various databases and resources.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders of varying lived and professional experience.
  • Commitment to professional development and improving grant writing skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement in all aspects of the position.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Background in English composition, journalism or related experience.
  • 3 years of professional writing and editing experience.
  • Experience coordinating and leading team meetings and workflow assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Nonprofit experience is a plus.
  • Experience in CRM software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain Open Hand's Upcoming Grant Request and Reports System while coordinating workflow across the Grants Team
  • Write, submit and manage corporate and private foundation grant opportunities for general operating and programmatic requests
  • Identify and research prospective grant opportunities through national grant databases, local funding/nonprofit opportunity newsletter subscriptions, and other sources
  • Draft and manage grant language resource documents to accurately reflect the latest programmatic and capital priorities
  • Review proposals and applications to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Track all grant proposal and application strategies, contact information, interactions, and submission activity via CRM software and an Excel spreadsheet
  • Create and manage agendas for the Grant Writer’s and Grants & Programs standing meetings
  • Create and distribute monthly grant reports tracking status of current applications
  • Attend or lead grant-related site visits, funding partner conferences, webinars, and meetings
  • Support during and after fundraising events on and offsite which occasionally may fall outside of regular business hours
  • Assist with Development stewardship activities
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
