About The Position

Under the direction of the Associate Director, Research Operations, this role provides post-award administrative and financial support to assigned faculty and staff within the Department of Neurology. The position involves preparing monthly financial reports to monitor expenses and payroll, serving as a financial planner using multi-year projections to ensure the health of research programs, and acting as a liaison with central departments to facilitate faculty and departmental needs regarding research and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required (GM-A).
  • Bachelor of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required (GM-B).

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of all transactions on sponsored project funding (Payroll, purchasing, cores, etc).
  • Ensure compliance with sponsor and University guidelines.
  • Review for wayward transactions and other errors.
  • Provide monthly/bi-monthly financial reports to all assigned faculty.
  • Ensure compliance with Department/PSOM/University policy.
  • Ensure timely completion of all reporting requirements for assigned awards, including progress reports and financial reports.
  • Manage research staff and faculty payroll records.
  • Ensure effort is allocated appropriately and follows sponsor regulations.
  • Review regularly with faculty so financial projections are accurate.
  • Semi-annual effort report completion.
  • Ensure research staff have appropriate knowledge base for purchasing on sponsored projects.
  • Educate faculty on award compliance.
  • Train Grants Coordinator, Financial Coordinators as needed.
  • Ensure FCOI compliance for all sponsored projects.
  • Work with faculty to ensure processed efficiently and complete full award setup including budget entry, salary allocations, core access, etc.
  • Represent the department in interactions with University, School and external agencies regarding sponsored project administration and finance.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provide training and oversight to Grants Coordinators (Grants Manager B only).
  • Responsible for complex funding mechanisms (Grants Manager B only).
  • Provide insight on policy and procedure updates/changes/implementation (Grants Manager B only).
  • Serve on School committees as needed (Grants Manager B only).
